Megan is Two!

5/20/06 - Megan turned two. I cannot believe how fast the time has gone and how much she has learned in the last year. She loved her party and especially the cake/ice cream. She even successfully blew out her candles. How do they learn something like that? She actually asks for cake and/or ice cream every day now. I guess that she takes after her 'Mom.' Speaking of that, she calls us 'Mom and Dad.' I have never heard another toddler refer to her parents as such. We call ourselves Mommy and Daddy, but she is too lazy to say the whole word.

Florida Trip

A few of our favorite pictures of our Florida trip. We had such a great time. As you can tell, Megan loved the beach and all of the attention from her extended family.

A Warm Weekend

On Saturday Megan went biking with Phillip. I had to wonder where they had gone when they were telling me that they saw cows on the ride. Megan kept telling me about the moo cows. Apparently there is a field behind Edmond North H.S. that Phillip passed on the way to Josh's that has cows. I haven't driven by there yet to verify their story :)

Looking pretty in her spring dress for church.

YUMMY!

As you can tell, Megan loved the CHOCOLATE pudding!

Playtime

After a fun day at playschool, Megan enjoyed some time with her favorite activities at home: coloring and playing with her dolls and stuffed animals.

The Sweater

Megan's Grandma Jeri handknitted this sweater for her. The back is even more amazing than the front, but I haven't been successful in getting her picture from behind. As you can see, the photo sessions are very challenging since she likes to run towards the camera to see herself on the digital screen.

January Pics

After one of the warmest Januarys in Oklahoma records, we did actually have a few winter days. We celebrated my birthday on 1/10 with Megan's first sledding experience. She loved it. I actually made a few trips down the hill behind my parent's new house with her.

Thanks to U. Johnny, Megan is very fashionable in her animal print hat & coat.
This afternoon was more typical of our weather and afternoon playtimes.

We wish you a Merry Christmas!

Now she is dancing and singing.
The Joy of a Child's Eyes.

Christmas Carols

Here is Megan playing and singing Christmas Carols. Check out her left hand---she already knows how to play flats and sharps (the black keys). She is training to be the American Idol 2024.

China Doll

My dad recently returned from a 2-week business trip to China. He brought Megan a silk Chinese dress. She is a pretty cute "China Doll."

Fall Carnival

On Saturday Megan got to dress up in her lion costume for the fall carnival at church. The pictures of her in the bounce house look like we had her in a cage. Maybe we need to buy one of these for home. She also loved the tricycle races.

Orr Family Farm

Last Saturday, we took a family outing to the Orr Family Farm. We rode a little train and then took a hayride to the small pumpkin patch. They also had a carousel. As you can see, she was a little more relaxed on the horse. She was waving to everyone and saying "Hi" - her favorite word.

Zoo Friends

We spent the afternoon at the OKC Zoo with Rae and Macy Boswell. Gram Jan (Hanan) treated Macy and Megan to a ride on the carousel. Macy clapped to the music the entire time. Too cute :) Megan was a little clingy once her leopard started going up and down.

Night at the White's

Hunter, Brandon, & Megan
Megan & Hunter both love their paci's.

Baby Julia gets some attention now that the other kids are in bed.

After the lunch at Amy's, Megan and I drove over to stay the night with Brooke's growing family. Megan loves playing with the boys and all of their toys. Brooke and I even ventured out the next morning to do some shopping at Grapevine Mills Mall with all FOUR kids under the age of FOUR. I can say that when Brooke and I became best friends in Jr. High that we never thought this day would come :)

Old Friends and New Friends

Amy, Megan, Ailie, Brooke, Julia
Ailie & OliviaMallory, Megan, & Abby

Several of my best friends from ACU got together for lunch at Amy Showalter's house in Frisco, Texas. The following "old friends" were there: Amy Showalter; Rae Hanan Boswell of Richardson, TX; Ailie Springer Harriger of Miami, FL; Brooke Hester White of Keller, TX; and ME. Along with the old friends, several of our girls got to meet and become "new friends:" Abby (4) and Mallory (2) Showalter; Olivia Harriger (3-months); Julia White (2-weeks); and Megan Mesa (1). Macy Boswell (11-months); Brandon White (3); and Hunter White (1) were at Mother's Day Out, so they missed the party. We also were able to see Amy's sister, Laura, and her daughter, Reid (9-months). We really had a great time, despite a little scare involving keys locked in a running car.

Walks with Papa

We spent probably our last summer weekend at the lake over Labor Day. After breakfast, Papa takes Megan on a walk. They end each walk with a trip down to the lake to throw rocks into the water. This morning, I saw them from a distance and then snuck a few pictures. Megan became fascinated with and began saying "ducks" this weekend. Note: They are actually Canadian geese, but try telling that to a 1-year old.

Go Sooners

Megan is showing her Sooner Spirit early. After the opening football loss, Phillip is also telling her that true Sooner fans are loyal during good and bad times. (However, we are hoping for good times the remainder of the season.)
