On Saturday afternoon, we celebrated Nani's 90th birthday at her house. She told me she didn't know why the big celebration for her. (She probably thinks 90 is insignificant since her mother lived to 107.) Eight of her 10 kids were there, so the girls were able to meet a lot of their extended family for the first time.

We started off the busy weekend of celebrations with the Thursday night rehearsal and Friday night wedding of Daniel and Michaela. Daniel is Phillip's younger brother. Megan was one of the Flower Girls. She ended up doing fine but it took many reminders of her "reward" aka bribe. She is quite the entertainer among her circle of family and friends, but the total opposite outside of this circle. She found it all worthwhile when she received her set of "Tall Shoes" (plastic high heels) that she has wanted so bad. She wore them right up to bedtime on Saturday and then had them on Sunday morning with her PJs when she came out of her room with blankie still in tow. Too funny!

What a beautiful day! The girls and I met my cousin and her baby, "Bama" at my Aunt's house. After Megan and Aunt Susie made us lunch, cookies, pie, and snow cones, we swam awhile.

What is This??

When cleaning Megan's room last week while they were at school, I found these two pages of her "work." I throw away pages like this all the time, but thought that I should take a picture so that I do not forget her imaginary play. So what is it - you may ask--It is remnants of her school time with her classroom of imaginary students. She has written all of her students' initials and various numbers on these stickers as they were selected to be the line leader, etc. throughout her school day. She can play in these imaginary worlds all by herself for hours sometimes. I am quickly told to leave if I barge in during one of her teaching times or disciplinary times. For all of those that have been her teachers, I now know what is being said in the classrooms if I listen through the door to her little world.

This was absolutely the fastest roller coaster (Powderkeg) that I have ever riden. When it took off, it felt like I had been launched out of a canon.

Phillip and I actually toured the Marvel Cave at SDC while the girls ate lunch and rode rides with Grammy and G-Ma.

We enjoyed a beautiful day at Silver Dollar City last week after we made the road trip to St. Louis for Addison's semi-annual neurologist appointment.

First Day of School

Megan and Addison had their 1st Day of School today. Megan was so excited to be in the Pre-K class this year. Addie may be a different story. This is her first time to stay with someone other than family.

 

 

 

Football Time Again

Saturday Night we went to the opening OU Football Game. Megan had lots of fun cheering on the Sooners with her buddies - Graeme and Cole.



 
 
 

Florida Family Vacation

We had an incredibly wonderful vacation to the Sandestin resort with our "big" family as Megan refers to them. (Yes - when it is just the four of us - she refers to the group as our "little family" or the M-E-S-A's.) We had beautiful weather the entire week. As the locals said, it was the calm before the storm. Tropical Storm Fay hit the area on the day that we flew out. Instead of taking the time to select some of my favorite pics, I am just posting a slideshow of a LOT of pictures. Enjoy if you have the time.

I think that she was ready to get out at this point. She was laughing and having fun until the camera came out. I was taken back in time to when I pushed my little brother around in my yellow Fisher Price doll stroller.

Back to Missouri

With limited toys on hand, the girls have fun the old-fashioned way--making a tent on the table with a sheet and playing peekaboo.

Waiting for the Circus on Ice show at Silver Dollar City. G-Ma at 87 years young can still climb the hills of SDC with us in the hot July heat. We did catch her taking a short nap during the Veggie Tales show. Sorry Bob and Larry - she wasn't overly impressed by singing veggies.

July Happenings

This worked better than planned. I let Megan color on the walls while I worked during Addie's nap to strip the wallpaper. She had the bottom 4 feet of wall covered in every marker color that she owns.

Grammy had bought some boy toys for Jake to have at the lake. Megan took over the baseball set and learned to bat with some help from Phillip. I guess that we should buy some sporting equipment to have at home even though we have a house of girls. I am sure that G-Ma was wondering why they were batting in the house instead of outside.

Gait Training

Two weeks ago, Addie started gait training at Physical Therapy. She is suspended over a treadmill and we move her legs in a walking motion. She did actually kick her legs back in a backward walk motion. She looks so much older and more like a toddler when she is standing like this. Hopefully we will see more progress in the coming weeks - let me correct myself--MONTHS. I'll try to get some video in the coming weeks.
